Getting Back to Our Roots

St. Louis Osuwa Taiko was founded by the original Osuwa Taiko in 1986, but no members from that original troupe are left in the group, and only one of our current members has ever seen Osuwa Taiko. For this reason, we are planning a Taiko Delegation trip to St. Louis' sister city in Japan for August 2009. While there we will learn from Osuwa Taiko and participate in Okaya's Aki Matsuri!

You can help! Going to Japan costs money. Lots of it. So we are turning to friends of St. Louis, Japanese culture, and arts to help us out. Any amount will help! If you know of any opportunities to help us get funding, please let us know! Or you can help us directly by donating directly to us:

But donating is not a thankless task! Donate at one of our predefined levels, and you can get all sorts of special stuff! The levels are listed below. Donate at one level and get everything for that level and all levels below, too!

$25+	Bachi Level	Bachi Level donors get a special edition donor t-shirt! details/photo coming soon
$50+	Tabi Level	Tabi Level donors get the Bachi Level gifts plus our new CD, featuring all original songs by St. Louis Osuwa Taiko.
$100+	Happi Level	Happi Level donors get all Tabi Level gifts, plus a pair of hand-made Omiyage bachi signed by our group members.
$250+	Shime Level	Shime Level donors receive everything the Happi Level donors get, plus a small traditional Japanese style lantern with your name in kata / kanji. You will receive one lantern, and we will keep an identical lantern to display on stage with us during big performances.
$500+	Okedo Level	Okedo Level donors get the same gifts the Shime Level get, but the traditional lantern will be a larger size (and more prominent on our display)!
$1,000+	Chuu-daiko Level	Chuu-daiko Level donors receive everything the Okedo Level donors get, but will also get a miniature desktop-taiko.
$2,500+	Oodaiko Level	Oodaiko Level donors will get not only everything Chuu-daiko Level donors do, but will also get a free 30-minute performance (subject to availability) by St. Louis Osuwa Taiko! All usual restrictions apply.
$5,000+	Osuwa Taisha Level!	If all that isn't enough, Osuwa Taisha Level donors will receive an official St. Louis Oswua Taiko Members' happi coat! These are the ones we use in performances. There are several styles to choose from.

Note that St. Louis Osuwa Taiko is a 501(c)(3) is a non-profit organization! If you'd like to deduct your donation from your income taxes, please ask for a receipt.
